Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children research grant application deadline

The trustees of Newlife Foundation are pleased to invite UK based research applications.
Applications should be for research into the aetiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of birth defects. This year, although they are looking for applications on all birth defects, they are giving priority to research that will look into birth defects associated with severe learning disability. Applications for research that will further the understanding anf potential for treatment of children with severe intellectual disability will be especially welcome.
Full Grants
Full grants are to fund 1-2 year research projects and should not exceed £120,000 in total. The awards will be subject to peer review by the Medical and Scientific Panel of the Foundation. This year they are two opportunities to apply for full grants with the closing date for the second round being at 5pm Friday, 5th December 2014.
Start Up Grants
Start up grants should not exceed £15,000. These are specifically to allow researchers to undertake short projects either as complete projects or as a preliminary activity to develop full projects. These grants are not available to complete existing projects. Applications for Start Up Grants are welcome anytime until 5pm Friday, 20th February 2015, for the current year.
